About the Westend Theatre London
I recall my friend Alexie<one of our artistic councilors>, lecturing me at the parking lot o CCP that theater is supposed to be for the masses and she was sulking on why theater productions here in the country ought to be very finacially challenging, that we have to pull some strings to get free tickets, lols. On the more dignifying note, well we still buy tickets to watch productions and we religiously immerse ourselves to this art we are real lambs of.
You may be wondering why I suddenly have to reminisce on this faint memoir. Well because I have not forgotten that I said that I will delegated myself to post some theater academics in here. So where did I pull over? There, I remember posting on the 2 Most influential theater companies in the world, one of which that I have already posted is the Broadway Theater, the posting is no longer found here but can still be read in the Teatrista Yahoogroups homepage that I do hope was given some attention to. For the non-members of the Teatrista Yahoogroups, well get started on registering your membership.
So where was I? Oh yes the Broadway theater, as I have recently posted the Broadway Theatre is situtated in 1681 Broadway New York, NY 10036 212-239-6200 52nd and 53rd St and you get there by taking the 1, 9, C, E trains to 50th Street. The Broadway theater as I compared to the CCP is like the Nicanor Abelardo Hall. And before I review the rest of what I have posted On Broadway I want you to get back on what Alexie was pointing out to me that night, she was so correct in saying that theater is for the masses. Scholarly address on theater started in Europe, in greece actually when Aristotle pointed that "...acting is an imitation of nature!", have you ever wondered where acting came from? Well, history says that as soon as civilization dawned mankind there was it, so you can imagine african tribes doing their worship through acting out how they say their gods have graced them so they would have that. And the sikhs and sophist all doing it before. Pass forward to the renaissance period when Shakespeare was not yet the revered William Shakespeare, he and his contemporaries and the ones before did it on the streets. Until such works was played in front of the Queen, I recall it to be Macbeth. Progressive theater started in the Palace. That's when Theater started being a highstake form of art, but dont fret people, in germany and there are still productions done in the streets and the marketplace, do you know what the production is? It's the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
Before you rot your heads out, the whole point is Alexie, do you know that in the Broadway theater is considered as still the theater for the masses and the WestEnd the theater for the royalties and civil socialities?
About The West End
ShakespeareThe West End theatre industry is an economic powerhouse, bolstering the UK economy with thousands of jobs and millions of pounds of tourist and industry spending, whilst creating significant tax yields and a major balance of payments surplus.
The Wyndham Report, published on July 15 1998, was the first ever investigation into the scale of this blue-chip industry. Written by Tony Travers of the London School of Economics, with data compiled by MORI, the report shows for the first time the massive economic importance of 'Theatreland' - the other 'Square Mile' in London, on which depends the well-being of hundreds of British companies.
The Wyndham Report revealed:
* The total economic impact of West End theatre in 1997 was £1,075 million * 41,000 jobs depend on West End theatre * West End theatre-goers spent £433 million on restaurants, hotels, transport and merchandise in 1997 in addition to £250 million on tickets * 11.5 million seats were sold in 1997 (compared, for example, with 4 million for Greater London's 13 League football teams) * West End theatre is one of the UK's biggest tourist attractions * West End theatre contributed a £225 million surplus to the UK's balance of payments in 1997 * As a net currency earner for the UK, West End theatre is similar in size to the entire UK Advertising, Accountancy and Management Consultancy industries - and hugely bigger than the UK Film and Television industry * Tax revenues of more than £200 million were produced by West End theatre in 1997 * London remains the Theatre Capital of the World with more shows and bigger audiences than anywhere else, including Broadway * World-wide earnings of the biggest British shows dwarf those of Hollywood blockbuster films (eg 'Titanic, Jurassic Park')

... for contemplationThe world's a theatre, the earth a stage, Which God and Nature do with actors fill. — Thomas Heywood (d. 1650) Apology for Actors(1612) The wide and universal theatre...
